01

My printer is broken. Can I send a handwritten copy of the covering letter with my furs?

Yes, you can. But please copy it carefully word for word.

Info:
The fur covering letter is read automatically, so we recommend you ask a friend or acquaintance to print a copy, otherwise you should expect to wait longer for a reply.

02

How long do I have to wait for an offer?

Purchase offers are sent as soon as possible via e-mail.

03

Are you worried about sending us your furs?

Go to www.furscouter.eu . In the centre at the bottom of our page, you will see the German Fur Institute logo. Click this and you will be redirected to their web page (pelzinstitut.de), where you can make an enquiry about us. This will tell you we are official fur retailers and that we trade throughout Europe.

04

How should I put my furs into the package?

Please place your furs in a cardboard box, enclose your completed fur covering letter, and finally, ensure the box is securely sealed.

05

Where can I obtain packaging or a cardboard box?

You can obtain a cardboard box and packaging material from a Post Office or hardware store. Otherwise recycle a pre-used cardboard box (in good condition) instead.

06

Do you buy faux fur?

No, we buy only real fur.

07

Do you also buy leather?

We don't usually purchase leather – unless the piece has a fur trim.

08

Can I accept my purchase offer by telephone?

No. Unfortunately, you can only do so via the online form provided.

09

How much do you pay for furs?

Like you, we wish it were possible to give you an immediate and reliable quote for your furs.

However, besides the age and type of fur, each individual fur has numerous other distinctive features, all of which must be considered in a fair assessment. Regrettably, this differentiated assessment is beyond the expertise of a keen amateur.

Even the most painstaking telephone, or written, description always leaves some unanswered questions, which can only be clarified via a personal inspection of the fur by a highly qualified professional. So no amount of comprehensive assistance would enable our furrier to provide a sufficiently accurate remote assessment of your fur.

We hope you will understand our wish to protect your interests by waiting until your fur arrives with us before making our evaluation.

11

What furs are classified as protected species?

What furs are classified as protected species?

Protected species include, for example, ocelot, leopard, wolf and others.

In order to sell these exotic furs on the market, you need a CITES certificate and an EC permit for commercial use. However, Furscouter.eu do not wish to sell furs from protected species, even with the correct documentation, and so must decline to make any purchase offer.

Note:
If you are unsure about the type of fur, please feel free to still send us your garment.

12

Do you also purchase skins?

We purchase all kinds of tanned skin– with the exception of protected species, or where a marketing ban applies.

13

Would you purchase raw skins?

No, Furscouter will only purchase tanned skin.

14

Do you buy furs from abroad?

We purchase furs throughout Europe.

15

What is an online purchase offer?

You have the option to view your purchase offer online.

Our online platform then offers the following further options:

  • Agree a complete sale
  • Agree a partial sale

    For instance:

You send us 4 furs, and you wish to sell 2, and have 2 returned.
  • You can also opt to have all your furs returned.

17

Can I decline the purchase offer by telephone?

No. Unfortunately this can only be done via our online form.

18

How will I know you have received my package?

You can use your shipping company's tracking number to confirm delivery has taken place.

Once we receive a package, we will issue a purchase offer to you. This also acts as your confirmation of receipt.

19

How long does it take to receive my payment?

It can take up to seven days after receipt of the Purchase Agreement.

20

Is the collection service available outside Germany?

Unfortunately, a collection service is only available in Germany. Where this applies, please mark your package accordingly.

21

I have a question about the purchase offer.

Please give us a call. Questions about our purchase offers are always answered by telephone. Please keep your purchase offer number to hand.

22

Where can I obtain a CITES certificate?

Please check with your closest DEFRA office about CITES certificates for the furs of protected species and EC permits for commercial use.

23

How much will I pay for a return shipment of my package?

A return shipment costs 12 € within Germany, 25 € within the EU, and € 35 in Switzerland. Details of other countries on request.

24

Where can I find the banking information?

Should we decline to make a purchase offer, you will receive our bank information in a separate e-mail as a PDF attachment, as soon as possible.

25

Can Furscouter.eu arrange home visits?

Our professionals cover the whole of Europe so we cannot offer this service. Mostly, we strongly recommend you think carefully before inviting so-called dealers into your home. So bear this in mind if you approach specialist shops interested in your furs.

26

Do I get a higher payment if I make an appointment?

We will make you the same purchase offer whether you send your furs, have them collected, deliver them personally, or have a personal discussion about them.

27

I cannot open the fur covering letter. Is there an alternative?

Please enter your address and your e-mail address.
Our purchase offer is sent to you via email.

Please, copy the following text clearly word for word:
I (sender of furs) hereby declare under oath, that the information given by me is true to my personal knowledge, and the furs described above and sent from me to Gerikoglou, or personally handed over, are my own unrestricted property, were not obtained by any criminal act, are neither pledged, transferred, nor in foreign ownership, and that I have reached the age of 18 years, and am therefore fully competent. Furthermore, I hereby accept the exclusive validity of the Gerikoglou general terms and conditions (GTC can be viewed at www.furscouter.eu).

Please sign the certificate of ownership and place it in your package.

28

Do Furscouter.eu also purchase gold?

No, we trade only as fur specialists.

29

Are there any exceptions which may lead to a refusal to purchase?

In principle, we would naturally like to buy any furs from you. However, there are exceptions to every rule:

Certain furs are subject to an EU marketing ban – and we, of course, obey all such directives. This also serves to protect your own interests, and helps to preserve endangered species:

We simply wish to discourage any trade which ignores the preservation of protected species. You, of course, appreciate such concerns, and we thank you for your understanding.

30

Do Furscouter.eu purchase furs from Switzerland?

Yes, we would be happy for you to send your furs to us.

Note:
When sending us your package, mark it as "Commercial Sample".

The assessment of your furs only happens when your package reaches us – prior to then, their value will not be easy to estimate. Therefore, do not enter a value for your shipment, otherwise – where high values are entered – you may incur unnecessary customs charges.

Under no circumstances can we collect a package from the customs office.

31

Which fur species are subject to an EU marketing ban?

The following are examples of furs which, without exception, may no longer be traded:

Gaewolf, Domestic Cat, Seal, Domestic Dog ...

Note:
If you are unsure about the type of fur, please feel free to still send us your garment.

32

What are your opening times?

Our opening times are as follows:

Mo-Fr 09-12 am | 03-06 pm CET

Note:
Call us to make an advance appointment before you set out!
Without an appointment, we can only accept delivery of your furs in a sealed package – that's how our fur-processing system works (without a pre-arranged appointment).

33

34

How should I complete the fur covering letter if I don't know the type of fur?

38

Can I fold the furs?

Please feel free to carefully fold your furs inside your package.

39

Is it possible to send photos of my furs in advance?

Please do not send us any photos. We can only assess furs we are able to examine.

40

Why is there a long waiting time for an appointment?

Why is there a long waiting time for an appointment?

Our popular fur-buying service is much in demand, and we thank you for your interest. Each personal consultation is different, and can often be quite time-consuming. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

The alternative to a personal appointment

If you need a faster response, you can also send us your furs by post. Our purchase offer is then usually available to you within three to five business days.

41

How do I arrange an appointment?

You can always arrange an appointment via our online appointment calendar.

Please note:
Our appointments are exclusively accessed online, and not through the service hotline or via e-mail.

42

Do I have to send each fur individually?

You can place several furs in the same package.

You will receive an offer to purchase with the individual prices listed. It is also possible to opt for just a partial sale, if you wish.

The maximum dimensions for a DHL shipment are 60 x 60 x 60 cm. Of course, you are welcome to choose a different shipping provider, but please observe all shipping restrictions.

43

I have a fur, but I don't know what type it is. What should I do?

Furscouter will be able to determine the type of fur, and assess its value.

If you are unsure about the type of fur, please feel free to still send us your garment.

Please do not send us any photos.

We can establish the type of fur on your behalf – that's what we do … and then we can make you a purchase offer.

Furscouter.eu can assess the value of your fur.

Details

44

Do Furscouter.eu offer free fur evaluations?

No, this is not a free service. Our evaluation costs 10 euros, inc. VAT. If this is not a viable economic option for your particular fur, then we would please ask you not to send it to us.

Important Note:

We want you to receive a reliable, transparent evaluation of your fur coat. If you want to know precisely what your furs are worth, then you will need us to conduct a proper assessment. Only an expert can give this evaluation and will need to examine each fur carefully to offer a professional opinion.

Please understand that no fur expert in the world can judge the quality of a fur based on photos. Photos cannot transmit the feel and touch of a fur pelt, and neither can a description of the fur over the phone. In addition, no layman could offer the calibre of description required for an accurate assessment.

45

My fur coat or fur jacket has no lining, or a damaged lining. Would you still make a purchase offer?

You can send us your furs with/without a lining, damaged or otherwise.

46

Can I bring furs to you myself?

You are welcome to bring your furs to us, if that is convenient. It will help us both if your furs are already on hangers – that means we can then hang them on our garment rails immediately.

Are you short of hangers? Don't worry, we can take care of that.

47

How would I get to you by car, or by public transport?

Here you will find a route planner where you can quickly create your own personal route

Route

48

I have sent you two packages, and would like these returned as just one consignment. Is that possible?

Of course, we would like to be able to reconfigure the shipment as you request, but our safety regulations unfortunately prevent this. We need to ensure that all products received can be easily returned, therefore our employees cannot just open and combine packages. This helps us to avoid any unnecessary errors.

In plain language this means: Each package sent to us, is also ready to be sent out again, and no outer packaging is allowed. Each package we receive counts as a cost, which is why we specify an individual shipping cost for each return package. However, you can avoid this by sending us all your items in one package. Then, of course, your return shipment will also consist of one package and, you as a seller, will bear just one set of return costs.

49

Could I find out the value of my furs?

No, unfortunately you are not able to evaluate your furs on your own. Only an examiner with at least 10 years experience is able to give a professional statement about the value of your fur.

50

Assessment criterias for fur purchase price

Based on the following text we elucidate which informations are indeed required to give an serious and contructive assessment alinged to fair prices. Do you possess a fur-jacket, a fur-coat or maybe fur accessories? Your fur accessories are attached to leather-ready-to-wear-clothing or textile-ready-to-wear-clothing? Or maybe you possess fur inner lining?

51

Does a fur purchase list exist?

If you try to search in the internet for fur prices it´s a waste of time. You wont get a real assessment. It would rather confuse you and you´ll lose the overview. We would like to explain you why it is impossible to find a fix price list and why it is impossible to assess the value of your furs on your own.
